ऐ कली ठहर जरा, 

अभी सबेरा हुआ नहीं,

आंसमा की चादर ओढ़े सूरज सो रहा है,

भोर गीत गाकर,

किसी ने अब तक उसे जगाया नहीं l ऐ कली ……

अँधेरा भी जग रहा है, 

चाँद तारे भी जग रहे है,

झींगुर भी सिटी बजाकर रखवाली तेरी कर रहा है,

जग रहा है उल्लू अभी, 

जम्हाई उसे भी आया नहीं l ऐ कली ……

प्रहर करवट बदल रहा है, 

ब्रहम मुहूर्त अभी आया नहीं,

पक्षियों ने अभी चहचहया नहीं, 

पंख अपना फडफडया नहीं,

खिल गया अगर तू अभी, 

पंखुड़ी तेरे झुलस जायेगें

शीतल, मधुर, ठंडी पवन,

पूरब ने अभी बहाया नहीं l ऐ कली ……

बिखर जायेगें फिर खुशबू तेरे,

तितली भी पास नहीं आयेगा, 

भौंरा मौन हो जायेगा,

मधुर गीत फिर कोई गुनगुनाएगा नहीं l ऐ कली ……
